Acre Governor Appoints State Prosecutor as Chief of Staff

Acre Governor Mailza Assis has officially appointed state prosecutor Cristovam Pontes de Moura as the new Secretary of State for the Civil House (Secc). This appointment, published in the Official State Gazette on Thursday, April 9th, follows the previous resignation of Jonathan Xavier Donadoni. Pontes de Moura had already been serving as interim head of the department since Donadoni's departure. A career prosecutor, Pontes de Moura holds a doctorate in Law and brings extensive public administration experience to the role, having held various significant government positions throughout his career. This appointment is part of a broader reshuffling of high-ranking officials within the Acre state administration. Since April 8th, Governor Assis has made several changes, including appointing public defender Simone Santiago to the Secretariat for Women's Affairs. In a notable reversal, the governor initially appointed Jonathan Santiago as head of her personal cabinet but later replaced him with her husband, Madson Cameli. Other key appointments include José Bestene to the Secretariat of Health, councilman João Paulo Silva to the Secretariat of Social Assistance and Human Rights, and delegate Pedro Paulo Buzolin to head the Civil Police. The Secretariat of Industry, Science, and Technology saw the appointment of businessman Márcio Valter Agiolfi, and Francisca das Chagas Brito Gomes was replaced by Clicia Regina Silva da Costa at the Organization of Service Centers (OCA). Ney Amorim also transitioned from Secretary of Sports and Leisure to an unspecified role within that secretariat.
