Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology Architecture Department Celebrates 30 Years

The Department of Architecture at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) celebrated its 30th anniversary on July 3rd, bringing together former and current students, faculty, and staff. The event, themed 'Generational Bonding: Thoughts for the Future,' commenced on July 2nd and featured a four-day program including seminars, reminiscences, project displays, and cultural events. The department, established in 1995, was founded by architect M. A. Muktadir and has since educated thousands of students. A significant highlight was the design sharet competition, which saw participation from 78 students representing 12 universities. Faria Tanzim, Jubair Hossain, and Hasibul Hossain from the University of Bangladesh secured first place, while teams from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology and the University of Asia Pacific were the first and second runners-up. Khulna University received a special commendation. Architect M. A. Muktadir was honored with a lifetime achievement award during the inaugural ceremony, and a commemorative book showcasing the work of alumni and students was unveiled. Seminars featured discussions by architects Mustafa Khalid, Sharif Shams, Saiful Islam, Ashik Bhaskar, Zishan Fuad Chowdhury, Rokun Uddin Bhuiyan, Shafiul Azam, and Hossain Murad. The cultural evening included a performance by Shams Mansur, a member of the band Warfaze and a former faculty member. The exhibition of works by current and former students and architects remains open to the public.
