Animal rescuer arrested, accuses police major of threats for feeding stray cats

An animal rescuer, Társis Araújo Magalhães Ramos, 43, has accused a Military Police Major, Dyanna Vieira de Oliveira, 41, of making threats and ordering his arrest for feeding stray cats in Boa Vista. The incident occurred on July 9th when Társis, a university professor, was detained after placing food for animals in front of a neighbor's house, who is also a neighbor of the police major. The official police report listed the major as the victim and Társis as the offender, citing charges of threat, disobedience, and disturbing the peace. Major Dyanna, who was off-duty at the time, denies any abuse of authority or intimidation. She stated that she had previously asked Társis to feed the animals elsewhere due to disturbances such as noise, dirt, and hygiene issues caused by their presence near her family's home. She claims she attempted to resolve the situation amicably through dialogue before involving the police, but her request was ignored. Társis, however, alleges that the major has been harassing him for about a year and that on July 9th, she escalated her behavior, using her authority to intimidate him. He claims she ordered him to be placed in a police van, which he recorded from inside. Társis has filed a police report against the major and her son for threats, also alleging verbal abuse and false accusations of theft and robbery. He further claims the major's husband intimidated his partner. The police initially stated they were investigating the circumstances, noting the major was off-duty. The major's defense claims Társis and his companion refused to leave the area and defiantly stated they would continue feeding the animals there, prompting the major to file a report. She also clarified that food was moved to the other side of the street, not discarded, and that Társis was transported in the police car, not the holding cell.
