Bangkok Music Bar Fire Death Toll Rises to 30, Victims Primarily Thai

The death toll from a major fire at a music bar in Bangkok has climbed to 30, according to Thai authorities. The blaze erupted late Sunday evening in the entertainment venue, which was reportedly filled with hundreds of people. Among the deceased are three members of the band performing at the time of the incident. Thai media reports indicate that 27 individuals have been identified so far, with 26 being Thai nationals and one from Laos. Authorities also stated that 24 people remain hospitalized across seventeen Bangkok hospitals, nine of whom are in critical condition. Many victims sustained burns and suffered from smoke inhalation, requiring treatment for lung damage. Doctors have discharged 36 individuals with less severe injuries. The Thai Ministry of Public Health has deployed teams to provide psychological support to those affected. The capacity of the music bar, which described itself as a brewery or beer hall, was reportedly up to 600 customers, though the exact number inside during the fire is still unclear. An investigation into the cause of the fire and compliance with safety regulations is underway. The bar's owner is among the critically injured and is in intensive care; witnesses claim he re-entered the burning building to assist others. The scene at the bar's perimeter now features tributes of flowers and handwritten messages of condolence, alongside melted musical instruments and charred furniture collected by investigators.
