Bolsonaro's defense denies AI video authorization, cites restricted visits

Jair Bolsonaro's defense team has filed a petition with Brazil's Supreme Federal Court (STF) stating that the former president did not authorize the use of his image and voice for an artificial intelligence-generated video. This video was shown at a convention for the Liberal Party (PL) that officially nominated Senator Flávio Bolsonaro for the presidency. The petition was submitted to Justice Alexandre de Moraes in response to a request for clarification regarding the video. Bolsonaro's lawyers argued that he could not have granted permission because his visitation rights are suspended for 30 days, and his son, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, is prohibited from visiting him for 90 days. This, they claim, demonstrates a lack of contact for authorization. The defense also asserted that Bolsonaro's children have historically used his public image in political activities since his presidency, a practice that was never opposed. They contend this usage stems from familial trust and the public nature of Bolsonaro's image. The petition, signed by several lawyers including Flávio Bolsonaro himself, requests that these clarifications be considered for the ongoing penal execution proceedings.
