Bragança Paulista Launches 'Bragança Luz' for Public Lighting Modernization

Bragança Paulista has launched "Bragança Luz," its most extensive public lighting program, aimed at enhancing night-time safety, improving visibility, and achieving energy savings. The initiative establishes a continuous plan to modernize, expand, and upgrade the public lighting network across both urban and rural areas. The initial phase involves an investment of approximately R$ 4 million, which will fund the installation and modernization of 1,680 light fixtures and 686 lighting arms. These improvements will be rolled out incrementally across the Centro, Leste, Sul, Norte, and Oeste regions, as well as in rural communities, with a structured schedule to ensure each area receives comprehensive upgrades before work moves to the next. The program prioritizes the gradual replacement of conventional lights with energy-efficient LED technology, which offers superior durability and illumination quality. It also includes the installation of new lighting points, expansion of the electrical grid, and the maintenance of existing infrastructure. Beyond equipment upgrades, "Bragança Luz" creates a permanent investment policy to keep pace with the city's growth and extend lighting coverage to underserved areas. The execution strategy focuses on concentrating teams within defined regions to optimize resource use and ensure an organized progression of infrastructure improvements. Specific areas slated for initial interventions include various neighborhoods within the Centro, Leste, and Sul regions, alongside communities in the Norte and Oeste regions. The expansion efforts will also reach new urban areas like Hípica Jaguari and Jardim Iguatemi, and rural communities such as Agudos dos Frias and Bom Retiro, aiming to improve night-time mobility and public space safety. Residents can report lighting issues through the eOuve application or website, with an average response time of 24 to 48 hours. The program is funded by the CIP-M (Contribution for Cost, Expansion, and Improvement of Public Lighting and Monitoring Systems) and aligns with the Municipal Fund for Public Lighting and Monitoring. By 2026, this fund is projected to allocate R$ 24 million for public lighting operations, maintenance, equipment acquisition, network expansion, and urban monitoring.
