Brazil's PL Party Nominates Éder Mauro for Senate Seat in Pará

The Liberal Party (PL) in Brazil has officially nominated Éder Mauro as its candidate for the Senate representing the state of Pará. The announcement was made during a party convention held in Belém on Tuesday, August 4th. Mauro, a federal deputy currently serving his third term, has a background as a Civil Police delegate for over 30 years. The party has not yet finalized the names for the first and second substitute senator positions. During the same convention, the PL also declared its support for Daniel Santos of the Podemos party in his bid for governor of Pará. The PL intends to nominate its own candidate for vice-governor, though this individual has not yet been named. The party will not form a coalition for the other Senate seat available in Pará. In addition to Mauro's Senate candidacy, the PL launched 68 proportional election candidacies, including 40 for state deputy and 18 for federal deputy. The convention season for finalizing candidacies runs until August 5th, with registration with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) due by August 15th, and the official election campaign commencing on August 16th. Brazilians will vote for President, Governor, two Senate seats per state, federal deputies, and state deputies in the upcoming elections.
