Brazilian Pianist Jay Bergamini Masters Two Pianos, Fulfilling Childhood Dream

Jay Bergamini, a 33-year-old pianist and singer from Adamantina, São Paulo, has turned her childhood passion for music into a successful career, notably by performing on two pianos simultaneously. Her musical journey began at age four, with formal piano lessons starting at six in Adamantina. At fifteen, she faced a pivotal decision when her piano teacher offered to sell her music school to Jay's parents. Despite her parents' financial constraints, prioritizing building a home and celebrating her 15th birthday, Jay chose music, taking on the responsibility of managing the school. This experience provided her with invaluable administrative and teaching skills. By eighteen, she moved to São Paulo to pursue higher education in music, quickly advancing from a teaching position to a musical coordinator role at a large music school. After years of performing and teaching, she established her own company. Bergamini represented Brazil at a festival in Portugal in 2017 and earned a bachelor's degree in piano in 2019, currently pursuing a master's degree focused on Tchaikovsky's ballets. She cites Frédéric Chopin as a major inspiration and views music as a demanding craft requiring significant effort and resilience, rather than a romanticized pursuit. Jay's unique ability to play two pianos at once involves dividing her hands across the treble and bass clefs of each instrument, adapting keys to seamlessly transition between pieces. She embraces a multidisciplinary artistic approach, performing in both entertainment settings and formal recitals, demonstrating her versatility.
