Businessman Arrested for Allegedly Biting Off Mother-in-Law's Finger Amid Domestic Violence

A businessman, identified by police by the initials F.D.C. do E.S., has been arrested in Teresina, Piauí, Brazil, on suspicion of domestic violence against his wife, stepdaughter, and mother-in-law. The alleged assaults occurred on April 12th. According to the stepdaughter's statement to the police, the businessman arrived home intoxicated and began arguing with his wife after she suggested he shower and rest. He then allegedly insulted and pushed his wife. When the mother-in-law intervened to defend her daughter, a physical altercation ensued. The stepdaughter reported that during the struggle, the businessman bit the mother-in-law, severing part of her finger. He then reportedly sought a piece of wood to attack the women but was prevented by the stepdaughter, who was also bitten on the arm. The suspect then fled to a residence in União, where he was later arrested by the Civil Police on Thursday, May 2nd. The victims sought assistance at the Casa da Mulher Brasileira, where they filed a police report and underwent forensic examinations. Based on the reports and medical evidence, the Civil Police initiated an investigation into bodily harm within the context of domestic and family violence against women. A preventive detention order was issued by the court and executed on May 2nd. The businessman has been taken to a police station and is awaiting judicial proceedings.
