Cameroon's Central Plain Land Development Project Enters Crucial Phase

Cameroon's Ministry of State Property, Surveying, and Land Affairs (MINDCAF) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) are intensifying efforts to advance the land development project in the Central Plain. Minister Henri Eyebe Ayissi met with an AfDB delegation led by Albert Nyaga on June 25, 2026, for a supplementary pre-evaluation mission of the Support Project for Land Development and Large Producer Settlement in Cameroon's Central Plain. The discussions focused on assessing the progress of the Agro Parc project's initial phase and outlining steps for its full implementation. A key priority is finalizing the detailed master plan, which is essential for secure land allocation to investors and effective land management. The MINDCAF also requested the AfDB's assistance in hiring a consultant, continuing site occupation assessments, and funding forward-looking studies for agricultural producer settlement. Both parties agreed to expedite field visits in the Mbéré and Djerem departments and enhance the project's technical readiness across the Central Plain corridor. The establishment of a dedicated management unit within MINDCAF was also discussed to improve operational oversight and inter-agency coordination.
