Comedian Attacked with Chair During Florianópolis Show, Cites Unclear Motive

Comedian Fernanda Arantes was struck with a chair by a spectator during a performance in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, on Friday night, July 10th. Arantes, also a digital influencer, stated she did not know the aggressor and could not understand the motive behind the attack, which occurred approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes into her nearly hour-and-a-half-long show. The incident was captured on video and shared by the artist on social media. Before throwing the chair, the woman reportedly hurled insults at Arantes, calling her unattractive, overweight, and ridiculous. Arantes responded by asking for the woman to be removed from the venue. The Floripa Comedy Club issued a statement confirming the event, noting that a waiter observed the woman's unusual behavior and alerted the production team. A producer attempted to intervene as the woman removed the chair, but the throw could not be prevented. The club stated that its staff acted quickly to ensure the artist's safety and remove the aggressor, also contacting the condominium's security. The Military Police were called to the scene but did not find the suspect. The Civil Police are investigating, and the comedy club has preserved security footage for authorities. Despite the attack, Arantes chose to continue her show, supported by the audience and the venue, though she described the experience as very difficult. The club reiterated its commitment to providing a safe environment and expressed solidarity with Arantes, condemning all forms of violence.
