Cuiabá Event Teaches Kids Tree Planting, Distributes World Cup Stickers

This Sunday, July 19th, Cuiabá residents can participate in a free event at the Horto Florestal Tote Garcia to learn about urban tree propagation. The "Craques da Natureza: Plantou, Colou" campaign, in its final edition, aims to engage children in the process of creating approximately one thousand tree seedlings. Participants will gain hands-on experience in preparing soil, planting seeds of native and fruit-bearing species, performing initial irrigation, and preparing the seedlings for growth in a greenhouse. Beyond the educational aspect, attendees will have the opportunity to take home seedlings to plant in their own spaces. Children who successfully produce a seedling alongside a guardian will receive a pack of World Cup stickers. This initiative differs from previous ones by focusing on the entire seedling production cycle, rather than just planting. The Horto Florestal Tote Garcia, established in 1953, is a 15-hectare public facility dedicated to producing seedlings for the city's greening efforts, environmental conservation, research, and education. It also features a convention center for various activities and a wooded area showcasing native Cerrado species and riparian forest, serving as a habitat for fauna and a site for research and leisure. The event is open to the public, with children requiring adult supervision, and runs from 8 AM at the Horto Florestal Tote Garcia, located at Rua Antônio Dorileo, nº 495.
