Cuiabá: Two women kidnapped outside church rescued after victim shares live location

Two women were kidnapped on Sunday, December 12th, in the Bosque da Saúde neighborhood of Cuiabá, Brazil, and were rescued by Military Police. The victims had just left a church and were in front of the Edifício Solar do Bosque when they were approached by two armed men. The assailants forced the women into their own car and began driving, demanding bank transfers via Pix and issuing constant threats. During a moment of distraction, one of the victims managed to send a message to her family group, informing them of the kidnapping. A niece then shared the victim's cell phone's real-time location with the Military Police. Responding to the information from the General Command Headquarters, police teams initiated a search and located the vehicle near the Osmar Cabral neighborhood. A pursuit ensued, ending in the Tijucal neighborhood when the driver lost control and crashed the car into a residential wall. Following the collision, both suspects fled the vehicle on foot, entering nearby properties. One suspect, a 28-year-old man with a prior record for theft, was apprehended shortly after. Police found jewelry belonging to the victims in his possession and recovered a replica pistol used to intimidate the women. The second suspect escaped and remains at large. The case has been transferred to the Civil Police for further investigation.
