Democracia Cristã Party Nominates José Estêvão for Bahia Governor

The Democracia Cristã (DC) party has officially nominated José Estêvão as its candidate for the governorship of Bahia. This decision was finalized during the party's convention held on Sunday, July 2nd, in Salvador. Estêvão, a businessman with a degree in Business Administration and experience in electoral marketing, also serves as the state president of the DC in Bahia. His leadership position was recently solidified after a legal injunction overturned an attempt by the party's national executive to remove him. The convention also approved Neuzimar Camacam as the vice-governor candidate, though nominations for the Senate remain unconfirmed. Estêvão's platform, under the slogan 'a new look for Bahia,' emphasizes inclusivity and aims to integrate the Bahian population into the job market. He also proposes adding value to local products and stimulating economic circulation within municipalities. The DC party will not form coalitions with other parties and has put forward candidates for state and federal deputy positions. Estêvão, 68, was born in Floresta Azul and raised in Itapetinga. He previously held positions within the PDT, including the National Directorate and Regional Executive, and has run for state deputy and city councilor. He joined the DC party in April after more than four decades with the PDT.
