Dentist Arrested for Sexual Harassment at Fortaleza Bar

An entrepreneur has accused a dentist of sexual harassment at a bar in Fortaleza, Brazil, on July 4th. The incident occurred in the Aldeota neighborhood when the dentist, identified as 69-year-old Paulo Roberto Pinheiro Beltrão, vice-president of the Cearense Academy of Dentistry, allegedly placed his hand inside his shorts and made sexual gestures towards the woman and her friends. The woman reported that she was with friends outside the establishment when Beltrão approached them multiple times, initially complaining about cigarette smoke, then asking for a cigarette, and finally performing the alleged lewd act. She stated he then smelled his hand. The woman's friend confronted him, and he returned to his table. Later, he continued the gestures while looking at them, and one of the women managed to film the action, later providing the video to the police. The victims alerted the bar's management, who asked Beltrão to leave. However, they later found him at another table in the same bar. A customer who identified himself as a Civil Police delegate then arrested Beltrão on the spot. Military police arrived and confirmed the incident based on the victims' accounts and the video evidence. Beltrão was taken to the 2nd Police District and charged with sexual harassment. The court has sealed the judicial proceedings, preventing further information from being released. The bar, Boteco do Ciço, issued a statement condemning the act and promising to enhance prevention measures. The Cearense Academy of Dentistry stated it has no formal knowledge of the events and will await further investigation.
