Dhaka Businessman Found Bleeding; Family Alleges Planned Murder Attempt

Police in Dhaka's Nandipara, Khilgaon, rescued a businessman found in a bloody state. The businessman, identified as Khorshed Alam Sohel, 45, a resident of West Nandipara, is involved in the brick and sand supply business. Local sources reported to the police that a locally made pistol with live ammunition and a knife were recovered from Sohel. However, his family contends that he was deliberately lured to the location and subjected to a planned murder attempt. Sohel was initially taken to Mugda General Hospital and later admitted to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment under police guard. An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) from Khilgaon Police Station stated that authorities received information about locals apprehending an armed individual. Upon arrival, police found Sohel surrounded by approximately 40 to 50 people and in a severely injured condition. ASI Imran Sheikh confirmed that locals claimed to have found a firearm and a knife on the injured man, which were subsequently seized by other police officers. Sohel's wife, Tarin Akhtar, asserted that her husband's business dealings in brick and sand had led to a long-standing dispute with an opposing party, who had previously issued threats. She alleges that members of a local family orchestrated the attack, beat her husband, and then planted weapons on him before handing him over to the police. ASI Imran Sheikh indicated that senior officials are investigating the incident thoroughly, and the full truth will emerge after the investigation. He also noted that Khorshed Sohel has several ongoing cases registered against him at the Khilgaon Police Station.
