Divinópolis Hip Hop Event Addresses Misogyny and Female Entrepreneurship

The third annual Divinópolis Women in Hip Hop Gathering will take place on Sunday, July 19th, at 2 PM in Recanto dos Rouxinóis. The event aims to bring together artists, producers, educators, and street culture agents to discuss misogyny and female entrepreneurship. Organized by the Unified Black Movement of Divinópolis (Mundi) in partnership with the Department of Culture, and produced by collectives Hip Hop Oficina de Rua (H2OR), Fany Produções, and DBN Produções, the gathering will focus on a proposed bill to criminalize misogyny. This legislation seeks to define misogyny as the practice, induction, or incitement of violence, restriction of rights, or offense to a woman's dignity based on her gender. The program includes a discussion circle on the bill, debates on training activities, and shared experiences. A dedicated pedagogical area for children will also be available, and admission is free. Organizers believe that discussing rights and responsibilities in a space of coexistence and resistance will empower women and enhance their protection. The proposed law was approved by the Senate in March and is expected to be voted on by the Chamber of Deputies in July. Lawyer Soraya Marques will lead a session to clarify the bill's provisions and combat misinformation, explaining what constitutes misogynistic crime and its practical implications.
