Dog Hospitalized After Attack by American Bully Through Home Gate on São Paulo Coast

A nine-year-old dog named Jadi was hospitalized in Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo, after suffering a fractured snout during an attack by an American Bully. The incident occurred on Sunday, April 28th, when Jadi was inside her home and the attacking dog, accompanied by its owner, bit her through an opening in the gate. According to the police report and surveillance footage, the owner of the American Bully attempted to separate the animals. The owner of the American Bully reportedly told Jadi's guardians that his dog had never shown aggressive behavior and promised to return to discuss the incident, but did not. Jadi's owners, who chose to remain anonymous, filed a police report to ensure the owner of the American Bully is identified and held accountable. They also stated that the American Bully was in a public space without a muzzle, which they believe violates São Paulo state legislation requiring muzzles for certain breeds. Following the attack, Jadi was taken to a veterinary hospital in Guarujá, where she underwent facial surgeries. She sustained a fractured jaw and required feeding and urinary tubes. Jadi remains hospitalized due to suspected rhabdomyolysis, a condition causing muscle breakdown after severe trauma that can affect kidney function, and is being monitored for other post-surgical complications. Her discharge date is currently unknown.
