Electrician Dies After Electrocution During Store Maintenance in João Pessoa

Jefferson Soares Silveira, a 45-year-old electrician, tragically died from an electric shock while performing maintenance work at a store in the Mangabeira neighborhood of João Pessoa. Friends and family describe him as a dedicated professional who loved his work and had been self-employed since 2021. A childhood friend recalled that Silveira left for work on the morning of the accident feeling happy and discussing his aspirations for professional growth. He had completed electrician training and was described as a skilled professional whose work was the primary source of income for his family. Silveira had previously worked for Energisa for many years before becoming an independent electrician. He had been married for 17 years and is survived by his wife and a 24-year-old daughter, who expressed profound grief on social media. The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 8th, while Silveira was repairing an electrical supply issue at a store on Josefa Taveira Street. He was on the store's roof when the electrocution happened. Emergency services, including Samu and the Fire Department, were called, but Silveira could not be saved. The body was recovered by the Fire Department and the Institute of Forensic Science. The exact causes of the accident are currently under investigation. His wake was held on Thursday, August 9th, in downtown João Pessoa, with burial scheduled for the afternoon at the Cristo Cemetery.
