Entrepreneur Killed in Robbery Attempt Had Planned Marriage and Children

Bruno Mello, a 29-year-old entrepreneur, was fatally shot during an attempted robbery at his cell phone store in the José Américo neighborhood of João Pessoa on Thursday, November 2nd. Mello, who had owned the store for a year and worked in the industry for at least three years prior, was described by his fiancée, Rayane Pereira, as an attentive, dedicated, and loving partner. The couple, who had been together for a year and lived together, planned to formalize their union with a civil wedding and had aspirations of starting a family. Pereira shared Mello's strong desire to become a father, stating their shared dreams included baptism, marriage, and building a peaceful home. The incident occurred when two armed suspects entered the commercial building and encountered Mello as they ascended stairs toward the cell phone shop. Mello, who was also armed, reportedly drew his weapon when confronted by the assailants, who then fired multiple shots, resulting in his death at the scene. The exact number of shots fired was not immediately clear. Authorities have arrested one suspect in connection with the crime and seized the vehicle used by the perpetrators to flee. Mello's funeral was scheduled for Friday, November 3rd, at 1:30 PM at the Santa Catarina Cemetery.
