Father Learns of 10-Month-Old Daughter's Rape and Death While Returning From Trip

Erisvaldo Almeida, the father of a 10-month-old baby who died after being a victim of rape, learned of his daughter's death upon returning from a trip. The child's mother informed him of the tragedy via phone call. Almeida expressed profound shock and grief, stating the event has "ruined his life" and that he is unable to perform basic activities like leaving home or eating. The crime occurred on Monday, the 13th, in the Dionísio Torres neighborhood of Fortaleza. Almeida and the child's mother had been separated for two months and also have a three-year-old son. Initially, the mother told Almeida the baby had been suffocated, which left him in shock and panic. He later learned from police that the baby had not been suffocated but had died due to sexual assault, evidenced by red marks and blood in her intimate areas. Almeida was unable to attend his daughter's burial due to his distress. Two suspects have been arrested: Francisco Ray Rodrigues Magalhães, 22, who was romantically involved with the child's mother, and his cousin, Roberto Levy Oliveira Magalhães, 26. The child was taken to a health unit but did not survive her injuries. The defense for Francisco Ray stated he is cooperating with the investigation and denies being in the same room as the baby when the incident occurred. The defense for Roberto Levy has not been located. The Civil Police are awaiting forensic reports to conclude their investigation into the circumstances of the case.
