Favoo College Establishes Two Research Groups Focused on Citizenship and Cooperativism

Favoo College, an educational cooperative founded in 2006 in Vilhena, has launched two new academic research groups: "Cidadania e Democracia" (Citizenship and Democracy) and "DossiêCoop". The "Cidadania e Democracia" group, led by Professor Dr. Rodrigo Alves Correia, along with professors Cesar Henrique and Diandra Valêncio, will interdisciplinarily investigate the connections between citizenship, democracy, and sovereignty in contemporary societal challenges. Its aim is to understand and propose practices that enhance citizen participation, democratic governance, and rights protection. The "DossiêCoop" group, coordinated by Professor Fabiana Paschoal de Freitas, is dedicated to in-depth research on cooperativism, aiming to strengthen knowledge production and dissemination in this field. This group is also creating a publicly accessible repository for research, articles, and case studies on cooperativism. This repository will be integrated into an international repository managed by Ivey Publishing at Western University in Canada. Research group meetings occur weekly or bi-weekly, fostering collaborative academic debates between professors and students, rather than traditional lectures. Participation is encouraged through tuition discounts and requires commitment to research and academic events, with selection based on research interest and diverse backgrounds. Professor Correia emphasizes that these groups are environments for knowledge creation, critical thinking, and problem-solving, fostering skills in research, scientific writing, and collaboration. Favoo, which serves over 1,100 students across its school and college, is recognized for its high educational quality and facilities, reinvesting all financial results into infrastructure and training. The institution also recently inaugurated an innovation hub in partnership with Sicoob Credisul.
