Federico Alponte's debut poetry collection 'Cartografía de mis duelos' to be launched July 14

The publishing house Pasionerrada is releasing "Cartografía de mis duelos," the first poetry collection by Trujillo-born writer Federico Alponte Wilson. The book's official presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, at 7:00 p.m. at the Librería & Café Casa Tomada in San Isidro, located at Av. Petit Thouars 3506. Esteemed poet Marco Martos is slated to participate in the event. Alponte, an electronic engineer and project manager by profession, discovered literature as a means of personal exploration. After completing various writing workshops under the guidance of master Alonso Cueto, he published his debut short story collection, "Eucaliptos sin aroma," in 2023. He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Creative Writing at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. In "Cartografía de mis duelos," Alponte uses writing to navigate the losses that have shaped his life. The collection is structured into four sections: "Autobiografía," "Ellas," "Muerte y Salvación." It delves into themes such as the death of a father, family memory, love, depression, identity, faith, and literature itself as a tool for reconstruction. Through this debut poetry collection, Federico Alponte introduces a voice that engages with literary tradition through personal experience, crafting poetry that finds strength in vulnerability. The book encourages reflection on loss, memory, and the possibility of self-reconstruction through writing, transforming intimacy into a shared experience. Marco Martos, a poet, essayist, and Doctor of Literature from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, will offer commentary. Recognized as a key figure of the Generation of '60, Martos boasts a significant academic and literary career with notable works such as "Casa nuestra" and "Biblioteca del mar." He has also served multiple terms as president of the Peruvian Academy of Language and received numerous awards for his contributions to Peruvian poetry.
