Four Die in Head-on Collision on MG-111 in Ipanema; Three Were Family

A tragic head-on collision between two vehicles on the MG-111 highway in Ipanema, located in the Eastern Minas region of Brazil, resulted in the deaths of four people on Sunday afternoon, May 12th. Among the deceased were three members of the same family: a couple and their three-year-old daughter. The victims have been identified as José Carlos Leandro Fagundes, 26, Glauciane Maria Teodoro Peixoto, 21, and their daughter, Maria Alice Teodoro Fagundes, 3. The fourth victim was identified as Wilson Rezende Vieira Júnior, 50. Firefighters reported that upon arrival, they found the two vehicles involved in a frontal collision. Three individuals were already deceased at the scene, while a fourth person was receiving medical attention in an ambulance. This fourth victim was transported to the Ipanema Municipal Emergency Care Unit but unfortunately passed away shortly after arrival. One of the victims was trapped in the wreckage, requiring the Civil Police's forensic team to complete their work before firefighters could extricate the body. After the bodies were removed and handed over to the funeral home, Military Police managed traffic control. Firefighters applied sawdust to the roadway to absorb spilled oil and prevent further accidents. The exact circumstances leading to the collision are currently under investigation by authorities.
