Four Indicted in Brazil for Sex Video Involving a 13-Year-Old

Civil Police in Aurora, Ceará, Brazil, have concluded an investigation and indicted four individuals in connection with the recording of a sexual video involving a 13-year-old adolescent. The incident occurred on July 8, and the primary suspect, identified as Thays Benício, was arrested on July 18 after the video circulated on social media. Benício faces charges of vulnerable sexual abuse for allegedly engaging in sexual relations with the minor and recording the act. The investigation suggests Benício made the video to provoke jealousy in her ex-partner, Lucas Leite. Leite is indicted for distributing pornographic material involving minors, as he allegedly shared the video in WhatsApp groups. A friend of Benício's, Camila de Melo da Silva, is also indicted for distributing the material after receiving it. Additionally, a cousin of the victim, who was present at the time of the recording and is an adult, is indicted for vulnerable sexual abuse for failing to protect the adolescent. Brazilian law defines vulnerable sexual abuse as any sexual act with a person under 14, regardless of consent. The case will now proceed to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Ceará, which will decide whether to file formal charges, potentially leading to a trial. The victim's family had previously warned Benício about her interactions with the adolescent.
