Four women accuse actor Jared Leto of sexual misconduct in BBC documentary

A BBC documentary released today details accusations of sexual misconduct against actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto, 53. Four women, who claim Leto engaged in misconduct between 2002 and 2016, have spoken out publicly for the first time. The women state they were teenagers when they met Leto, who was in his thirties or forties at the time. One accuser, identified as Isabel, alleges that Leto sexually assaulted her in a Las Vegas motel room in 2002 when she was 17. She claims he masturbated using her hand without speaking. Another woman recounts being lured to a hotel room by Leto's assistant at age 19, under the pretense of a party. She states that Leto, upon finding her alone and inebriated, told her she would wake up to "a penis in her ass" if she slept on his couch. A third woman reports having consensual sex with Leto in California at age 17, when he was 34, an act that is illegal in that state. A fourth woman describes receiving sexually suggestive phone calls from Leto starting at age 16, and a subsequent proposal for sex, which she refused. She also noted being presented with a non-disclosure agreement, which she declined. Two former employees expressed discomfort with Leto's interactions with teenage girls, whom he frequently invited backstage or to his home. An anonymous former employee told the BBC that crew members were instructed to contact modeling agencies to offer free VIP tickets to female models for Thirty Seconds to Mars concerts in the early 2010s. Leto has denied all allegations, stating in a statement to AP that the accusations are "absolutely and categorically untrue." The BBC noted over 120 online accusations regarding his behavior towards women, some dating back decades. This follows a previous report last year where nine other women accused Leto of sexual misconduct.
