Goiânia Metropolitan Area Roadworks Cause Traffic Disruptions

Roadworks on three state highways in the Goiânia Metropolitan Area are causing significant traffic disruptions for drivers. The interventions involve asphalt resurfacing and the installation of culverts to improve rainwater drainage. According to the Goiana Agency for Infrastructure and Transport (Goinfra), the affected highways are GO-020, GO-060, and GO-070. On GO-020, 0.72 km between Goiânia and Bela Vista de Goiás are being restored. GO-060 is undergoing pavement restoration on a 32.58 km stretch between Goiânia and Trindade, while GO-070 is having seven culverts installed between Goiânia and Goianira. Traffic diversions are in place on all three routes to facilitate the ongoing work. On GO-020, traffic is using the opposite lane near the Police Post. For GO-060, traffic has been diverted to the opposite lane, operating as a single lane, due to the application of the final asphalt layer. GO-070 has four active work sites with potential diversions to marginal or opposite lanes depending on the specific services being performed. The GO-020 is a key route for tourists heading to Caldas Novas. Goinfra President Eliane Simonini expressed optimism that the GO-020 work will be completed by December, provided no unforeseen difficulties arise. The restoration of GO-060 is nearing completion, with full restoration and traffic release anticipated by September.
