Goianira Manicurist, 66, Dies After Being Struck by City Truck

Maria Conceição da Silva, a 66-year-old manicurist from Goianira, Brazil, tragically died after being hit by a municipal truck on the GO-070 highway on Wednesday, November 1st. Firefighters responded to the scene and found Silva injured but alive, trapped beneath the truck near the front wheel. After receiving initial medical attention, she was transported to the State Hospital of Urgencies Governor Otávio Lage de Siqueira of Goiás (Hugol) with a severe forearm injury. Despite remaining conscious during transport, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away early Thursday morning, November 2nd. The Civil Police have initiated an investigation into the incident, as the victim was taken directly to the hospital. Her son, Denyo César, reported the occurrence to the police and shared that his mother was on her way to work when the accident occurred, stating she was waiting for traffic to clear before crossing the road. The exact circumstances of the collision are still under investigation. Maria Conceição da Silva was laid to rest on Friday morning, November 3rd, at the Los Angeles Cemetery in Goianira. The truck driver's identity has not been released, and the Goianira City Hall had not provided a statement by the time of the report.
