Gospel Singer Diogo Nascimento Dies at 41 in Goiânia

Gospel singer Diogo Nascimento passed away at the age of 41 in Goiânia, Brazil, following complications from aplastic anemia, an autoimmune disease. His friend, Pedro Fernandes, shared that Nascimento dreamed of establishing his own musical choir for events and weddings. The singer died on Monday, May 20th, after a period of hospitalization where his condition worsened during treatment. Nascimento was honored at the Bom Pastor Vera Cruz 2 Church and was laid to rest on the same day. He was unmarried and had no children. Coming from a humble background, as the son of a cleaner and abandoned by his father along with five siblings, Nascimento began singing in church at age 10 and later became a professional musician. Another friend, Natã Milhomem, described Nascimento as a beloved and respected figure in Goiânia's music scene, noting that approximately half of his social media followers are musicians who are mourning his loss. Beyond his church performances, Nascimento sang at events and weddings, and participated in the "Vozes do Natal" group for seven seasons. He also worked as a music teacher. Fernandes recalled Nascimento as a joyful person who rarely showed sadness. Event singer Lorraine Nonato and physiotherapist Bruno Rios also paid tribute to Nascimento, remembering his encouragement, help, and friendship. Milhomem mentioned that Nascimento had previously been hospitalized for the same autoimmune condition earlier in the year, during which he stayed with Milhomem and was described as a loving and kind person. After recovering, Nascimento resumed his music teaching and performing engagements. However, he experienced a relapse on May 11th, leading to his hospitalization and subsequent transfer to intensive care.
