Grandfather Arrested in Manaus for Allegedly Raping Four Granddaughters Aged 7-12

A 64-year-old man has been arrested in Manaus, Brazil, on suspicion of raping his four granddaughters, who were between 7 and 12 years old at the time of the alleged crimes. The suspect's identity has not been released by authorities. The case came to light in June when family members reported the abuse to the Specialized Police Station for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (Depca). The investigation was triggered after one of the victims, a 9-year-old girl, experienced an anxiety attack and confided in her parents about her grandfather's actions. This disclosure revealed that three other girls had also been subjected to abuse by the same individual at different times. The victims reported that the grandfather exploited moments when they were sleeping or alone at home, including in bedrooms, bathrooms, or by the pool, to commit the assaults. Three of the granddaughters stated that the abuse occurred repeatedly. Police investigations also uncovered a history of alleged abuse by the man against one of his daughters, and he is also accused of threatening one of his granddaughters to prevent the disclosure of these crimes. The suspect has been taken to the Depca headquarters and will face charges of raping a vulnerable person, awaiting further judicial proceedings.
