Homeless Man Brutally Beaten to Death While Sleeping in Recife

A homeless man was fatally beaten with a club while he slept in the Boa Viagem neighborhood of Recife, Pernambuco, on Saturday, May 18th. Security camera footage captured the brutal attack, showing a perpetrator repeatedly striking the victim with a wooden beam. The incident occurred around 3:48 PM in the external area of a snack bar on Rua Barão de Souza Leão, near the Recife Airport viaduct and pedestrian bridge. The attacker, described as wearing sneakers, shorts, and a hat, approached the sleeping victim and delivered numerous blows in less than a minute. During the assault, a passerby was seen on the sidewalk but did not intervene. After the attack, the assailant spoke briefly with a truck driver before leaving the scene on foot. The Military Police secured the area for forensic examination, and homicide specialists were called to the scene. The Civil Police have registered the case as a completed homicide and are actively investigating to determine the circumstances and identify the perpetrator. Neither the victim nor the suspect's identities or ages have been released.
