Homeowner Pushes Robber into Pool During Struggle, Suspect Flees in Stolen Car

In São Francisco do Sul, Santa Catarina, a homeowner successfully defended his residence against two armed robbers on Thursday, May 2nd. The intruders gained entry by removing a window grate around 8 AM, finding the homeowner's daughter and her friend inside. The women were tied up and held for approximately four hours while the robbers demanded money and searched for valuables. The situation escalated when the homeowner arrived and confronted the intruders. During a physical altercation with one of the robbers, the homeowner managed to push the assailant into the swimming pool. While the robber was in the pool, the homeowner escaped through the gate. Both suspects then fled the scene in the homeowner's stolen car, a CR-V EXL, and took his daughter's cell phone. The robbers disabled the phone's cloud backup to prevent tracking. The homeowner, who sustained injuries from blows to the head during the struggle, reported the incident to the police and received medical attention at a local UPA. The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned in Praia do Ervino, also within São Francisco do Sul, and was recovered by authorities. The last known location of the stolen cell phone was traced to the neighboring city of Araquari. The São Francisco do Sul Police Department has opened an investigation into the home invasion.
