International Agribusiness Rural Race 2026 in Petrolina Draws Over 1,000 Athletes

The third edition of the International Agribusiness Rural Race, held on Sunday, December 12th, in Petrolina, successfully attracted over 1,000 national and international athletes. Organized by Seiva do Vale, the event was highly praised by both professional and amateur runners, serving as a celebration for agribusiness professionals in the São Francisco Valley. Elite runner Justino Pedro da Silva, a 24-year veteran and two-time Rio Marathon champion, finished fifth in the 15km elite race with a time of 45 minutes and 46 seconds. He expressed his pleasure in competing in Petrolina, noting the race's growing national significance due to its gold seal, which qualifies it for Brazilian rankings. Silva mentioned achieving a personal best in the previous year, leading to athletic grants and national call-ups. Joelson Pereira, also known as Dhioca, a 10-year experienced runner from Guanambi, Bahia, made his debut in the 5km race, completing it in 14 minutes and 39 seconds, and was impressed by the event's structure. Sales mentor Adna Andrade, another debutante, completed the 5km in 26 minutes and 17 seconds and commended the event's organization and athlete safety. Petrolina's Vice-Mayor, Ricardo Coelho, lauded the race's organization and infrastructure, calling it Petrolina's most traditional and a significant success. He highlighted the participation across all age groups, fostering intergenerational interaction through sport, and emphasized the event's positive impact on tourism and Petrolina's global projection due to its international ranking. Event organizer Mateus Almeida stated that the race, following preparation that began in December 2025, ran smoothly with efficient pre- and post-race operations, ensuring participants were well-catered for and highlighting the safety and comfort provided.
