Journalist Delson Carlos Fatally Stabbed in Goiânia Apartment Dispute

Journalist Delson Carlos was found dead inside an apartment in the Setor Bueno neighborhood of Goiânia, Brazil, on Friday, May 24th. According to the Military Police, Carlos was killed following an altercation involving two women at the residence. The incident occurred while the group was consuming alcohol, leading to a dispute that escalated to violence. Preliminary investigations suggest that the apartment owner was present with her partner and Delson. During the argument, Delson reportedly stabbed the owner's partner in the shoulder. In retaliation, the partner then allegedly used a knife to stab Delson, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Following the stabbing, the suspect barricaded herself inside the apartment, refusing to exit and triggering a crisis negotiation. Specialized police units, including the Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais (Bope), were deployed to manage the situation. The police reported that the suspect was experiencing a psychotic episode and attempted self-harm during the standoff. When negotiations failed, Bope conducted a tactical intervention, using distraction devices to gain entry. The suspect was apprehended, received medical attention, and was taken into custody for transport to a hospital.
