Juiz de Fora Streets Closed Sunday for Camilo dos Santos Marathon

The Camilo dos Santos Marathon will cause significant traffic disruptions in Juiz de Fora on Sunday, May 26th. Beginning at 5 AM, streets and avenues along the race route will be temporarily closed to vehicles. The marathon starts in the city center and will traverse neighborhoods in the Central, North, and Northeast regions. City officials anticipate most road blockages will be brief, with streets reopening shortly after athletes pass. The event is expected to conclude by 1 PM. The Secretariat of Urban Mobility (SMU) will deploy agents to manage traffic and guide drivers throughout the marathon. Key route segments include Parque Halfeld (start), streets Santo Antônio and Marechal Deodoro leading to Avenida Barão do Rio Branco, and the central lane of Avenida Barão do Rio Branco itself. Athletes will also use Ponte Pedro Marques, Avenida Brasil, Avenida Garcia Rodrigues Paes, Estrada da Remonta for approximately five kilometers, and the Benfica area before returning towards Avenida Brasil via the Ramiz Gonzalez Viaduct. The latter part of Avenida Brasil will see lane closures leading to the finish line at a dealership. Drivers are advised to avoid the race path and seek alternative routes, with information also available via variable message panels and the Waze app. Public bus lines operating along the course will implement temporary detours during the event.
