The Jundiaí region in São Paulo, Brazil, has experienced a disturbing series of five violence against women cases since Sunday, August 26th, highlighting the critical need for victims to seek immediate assistance. Lawyer Bruna Natale emphasizes that abuse often begins with psychological tactics before escalating to physical violence. She strongly advises victims to call emergency services (190) or the national hotline for victims of domestic violence (180) without delay. Natale also recommends victims distance themselves from their aggressors, seek medical attention, report the abuse to the Women's Defense Police Station, file a police report, and request urgent protective measures, ideally with legal counsel. She cautions against believing an abuser's apologies, as subsequent violence can be fatal. Psychologist Thais Mazzoti explains that unhealthy perceptions of love can lead victims to internalize blame and tolerate abusive behaviors, associating love with pain and sacrifice. She notes that returning to abusive relationships is not a sign of weakness but a symptom of psychological distress where victims lose clarity about their situation.
