Luizianne Lins Confirmed as Rede Sustentabilidade's Senate Candidate for Ceará

The Rede Sustentabilidade party has officially nominated Luizianne Lins as its candidate for the Senate in Ceará. This decision was formalized during a convention held on Thursday, July 30th, in Fortaleza. Lins, a current federal deputy and former mayor of Fortaleza, will be running for a Senate seat for the first time. Her political career in Ceará includes prior terms as a city councilor in Fortaleza and a state deputy. Lins recently joined Rede Sustentabilidade in April, concluding a 37-year affiliation with the PT party. She expressed gratitude for the support and affirmed her commitment to the people of Ceará, emphasizing her independent candidacy if necessary. The convention also confirmed candidates for state and federal deputy positions. The party has not yet finalized its stance on supporting the re-election campaign of Governor Elmano de Freitas (PT), though there is an expectation Lins might join his ticket. If not, her Senate bid will proceed independently. The Rede Sustentabilidade's decisions will be presented to the PSOL-Rede Federation at an upcoming event. Lins, a journalist and university professor by training, has held significant roles within the PT, including state secretary positions and party leadership in Fortaleza and the state. Her mayoral tenure in Fortaleza spanned from 2005 to 2012, preceded by her terms as a city councilor and state deputy. She was elected federal deputy in 2014 and again in 2022, where she served as the rapporteur for the Committee to Combat Violence Against Women.
