Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Girlfriend and Burying Her Body in Miguel Pereira

Civil Police have arrested Marlon Souza da Silva, who is suspected of murdering his girlfriend, Bianca da Silva Ribeiro, in Rio de Janeiro and subsequently burying her body on a farm in Miguel Pereira. The suspect was apprehended in the Barão de Javary neighborhood of Miguel Pereira during an operation by the Descoberta de Paradeiros (DDPA) delegation, with support from the local Miguel Pereira delegation. During his arrest, Souza da Silva reportedly resisted, engaged in a physical altercation with an officer, and attempted to seize the officer's weapon, leading to a shot being fired that struck the suspect in the leg. He was then taken to a health facility for treatment and remains under custody. The investigation began on July 6th after Bianca's disappearance was reported. Police traced Bianca's last known movements, confirming she was with Souza da Silva at Pedra do Sal and later at a lodging in Rua do Ouvidor. Security camera footage allegedly shows the suspect leaving the lodging alone and later transporting Bianca's body to a vehicle. Investigators believe he then traveled to Miguel Pereira. Souza da Silva is also accused of attempting to mislead the investigation by sending a photo of Bianca in a wooded area to an acquaintance, claiming he was searching for her. On July 10th, the Miguel Pereira delegation notified the DDPA about a female body found partially buried in a wooded area near the border of Miguel Pereira and Vassouras, later identified as Bianca da Silva Ribeiro. Further investigation revealed that on the morning of her disappearance, the suspect borrowed a shovel and hoe from a farm in Miguel Pereira, stating he needed them for construction work. The Civil Police are continuing their investigation into all circumstances surrounding the crime.
