Man Arrested in Unaí After Home Invasion While Resident Was at Hospital

Police in Unaí, Minas Gerais, arrested a man on Thursday, May 23rd, suspected of burglarizing a home in the Novo Horizonte neighborhood. The resident had left her house around 5 AM to go to the hospital and returned approximately two hours later to find it had been invaded. Evidence suggested the perpetrator had scaled the wall to gain entry. Inside, the rooms were ransacked, and several items were stolen, including a 50-inch television, perfumes, and jewelry. Surveillance footage aided the police in identifying a suspect whose description matched that of the alleged perpetrator. During questioning, the man reportedly confessed to the crime, attributing it to a moment of "hangover weakness." He also led officers to where he had hidden some of the stolen goods, including perfumes, rings, and earrings, which were recovered. The television was reportedly left in a vacant lot, but despite a search, it was not found, though a witness claimed to have seen it there earlier. The suspect underwent a medical examination before being taken to the Civil Police station with the recovered items.
