Man Arrested, Three Teens Detained After Failed Condo Burglary Attempt in São Paulo

A 22-year-old man was arrested and three teenagers were apprehended early Sunday morning, May 19th, following an attempted burglary at a residential condominium in Moema, located in the South Zone of São Paulo. Military police responded to a report of property invasion at approximately 3:30 AM, discovering a damaged building gate upon arrival. Three minors, aged 14 to 17, were found inside the condominium attempting to flee. One of the teenagers attempted to evade officers by ascending to the building's top floor. Tools believed to have been used for forced entry were seized from the group. Subsequently, police located an adult male providing support to the teenagers in a stolen vehicle. The Nissan Kicks was intercepted a block away from the condominium, at the intersection of Rua Araguari and Avenida Rouxinol. Investigations revealed the car was reported stolen in São Bernardo do Campo and had its identifying marks altered. All suspects were taken to the 27th Police District in Campo Belo. The adult remains in custody, while two teenagers were detained and the youngest, aged 14, was released to his legal guardian. The incident is being investigated as attempted theft, receiving stolen property, altering vehicle identification, corruption of minors, and locating/seizing a vehicle. Authorities noted that the individuals involved have prior records related to property crimes. One minor claimed participation in a previous R$3 million theft in Piracicaba, an incident that will be further investigated by the Civil Police.
