Manhunt Underway for Suspect in Brutal Attack on Ex-Partner in Prainha, Brazil

Authorities in Prainha, western Pará, Brazil, are searching for a man suspected of a brutal attempted femicide against his former partner. The attack occurred early Friday morning, around 2 AM, in the rural community of Boa Vista do Cuçari. The suspect allegedly invaded the victim's residence after failing to accept the end of their relationship, which had concluded approximately eighteen months prior. The couple shares a three-year-old son, who will turn four in August. According to the victim's mother, the suspect had consistently struggled to accept the breakup. The victim sustained severe injuries, including nine knife wounds. One blow nearly severed an arm, and another struck her knee. She was transported to a hospital in Monte Alegre for treatment and is currently hospitalized there. Following the assault, the suspect reportedly fled the scene, crossing the river in the early morning hours and heading towards the Santarém region. The investigation is being overseen by Delegate William Richer, who presides over the Monte Alegre and Prainha police departments. Initial findings point to the suspect's inability to accept the end of the relationship as the primary motive for the violent act. Information regarding the victim's current medical condition is being sought from the Monte Alegre Municipal Hospital.
