Mogi das Cruzes Councilwoman Claims Ex-Boyfriend's Invasion Allegation is Retaliation

Mogi das Cruzes City Councilwoman Malu Fernandes (PL) has stated that the accusation of her invading her ex-boyfriend Mario Luiz Moreno Junior's home and damaging property is an act of retaliation. This claim follows a court order granting protective measures in her favor. Fernandes' defense team filed a request on Friday, May 17th, to expand these existing protective measures against the businessman. Moreno Junior has denied the councilwoman's accusations, expressing confidence that the justice system will clarify the facts. Fernandes is suspected of entering Moreno Junior's residence in September 2025, remaining for approximately 20 minutes. An updated police report from May of this year indicates the property was found disturbed, with broken items and a torn jacket. The councilwoman's defense argues that Moreno Junior only supplemented his initial 2025 police report after the protective measures were granted, naming her as responsible for the damages, which they assert was a retaliatory move. They also contend that the public disclosure of the case coincided with Fernandes' announcement of her pre-candidacy for state deputy, labeling the incident as gender-based political violence. The defense further alleges that Moreno Junior selectively and distortedly provided case information and images to the press. The court is still reviewing these requests. Fernandes' legal team denies any invasion or damage, stating that security footage only shows her in common areas of the condominium and does not prove the alleged damages. Their petition seeks to prohibit Moreno Junior from disseminating information or images of the councilwoman and requests his preventive arrest for any future non-compliance. The protective order, issued by the 3rd Criminal Court of Mogi das Cruzes on April 28th, mandates Moreno Junior maintain a 200-meter distance, avoid contact, and refrain from visiting the same locations as Fernandes. A police inquiry into the councilwoman's claims has also been initiated, with the judge citing sufficient initial evidence of risk to Fernandes' integrity, including reports of stalking and intimidation.
