Naviraí and Eldorado Advance Sanitation Works in Mato Grosso do Sul

Naviraí and Eldorado, located in southern Mato Grosso do Sul, have reported significant progress in their sewage system expansion projects as of the end of the first half of 2026. In June alone, Naviraí installed eight kilometers of sewage collection networks and completed 585 household connections, a development expected to benefit approximately 1,755 residents. By the end of July, the city had accumulated 21 kilometers of installed networks and over 1,800 household connections. Eldorado is also making strides, with over 28 kilometers of collection networks and more than 1,200 household connections completed by July. Alongside network expansion, crucial infrastructure such as sewage pumping stations and emissary pipelines are being installed to ensure efficient sewage transport and integrated system operation. These pumping stations are vital for moving sewage uphill where gravity flow is insufficient, while emissary pipelines direct collected sewage to treatment facilities. Currently, Naviraí has 68% sewage coverage, and Eldorado has 36%. These projects are part of Ambiental MS Pantanal's 2026 investment plan, aiming to achieve universal sanitation coverage by 2031, two years ahead of the national goal set by the New Basic Sanitation Legal Framework. Clayton Bezerra, executive director of Ambiental MS Pantanal, highlighted that these advancements signify improved infrastructure, increased access to services, and better health, quality of life, and environmental protection for the population. This initiative is part of Aegea's broader operations across 15 Brazilian states, serving over 39 million people with water and sanitation services.
