Off-duty Federal Highway Police Officer Arrested for Vandalism After Dispute Over Tire Inflation Fee

An off-duty Federal Highway Police (PRF) officer was arrested in Anápolis, Goiás, Brazil, after allegedly threatening a gas station attendant and vandalizing a convenience store. The incident reportedly began when the officer refused to pay a R$ 1 fee to inflate his car's tires. According to police reports, the officer called the police himself, stating he had psychiatric problems and threatening to kill the attendant if help didn't arrive quickly. He allegedly returned to the station with a knife, threatening the attendant, and later returned with a piece of wood to break the store's glass door and damage property. The officer was reportedly armed with a knife initially and threatened to return with a firearm to kill the employee. He was eventually subdued by responding officers using a taser after he also threatened and disrespected them. The PRF confirmed the officer was not on duty and stated the case would be investigated for potential violations of his professional duties. The officer was charged with threat, property damage, disobedience, and contempt of authority, and was later released on bail.
