Off-duty police officer and venue owner injured in shooting outside SC nightclub

An off-duty police officer and the owner of a nightclub in Içara, in southern Santa Catarina, Brazil, were injured in a shooting incident early Sunday morning, May 19th. The attack occurred at the entrance of the venue after a dispute. According to Military Police, three suspects in a vehicle fired multiple shots at people outside the establishment. Two of the suspects died in a confrontation with police, and the third was arrested. Witnesses told Military Police that the incident began with an argument between customers and staff, after which one individual allegedly threatened to return with a weapon. Shortly after, the suspects reappeared in a vehicle and opened fire. The injured police officer reportedly reacted to the aggression and was taken to Hospital São Donato. A firearm he possessed was collected by a friend and voluntarily handed over to authorities. The female owner of the establishment was shot in the leg. The nightclub, Blanco Pub, announced it would not open on Sunday, stating their priority was to handle the situation responsibly and respectfully. The three suspects fled the scene but were located in Criciúma later that morning. One was arrested, while the other two, including the alleged shooter, engaged in a confrontation with Military Police during apprehension and were killed at the scene.
