Orquesta Candela and La Bella Luz Unite for 'Mi Orgullo', Celebrating Peruvian Cumbia

Peruvian cumbia is enriched by a new collaboration with the release of 'Mi Orgullo,' a song that brings together Orquesta Candela and La Bella Luz for the first time. This track, now available with its music video on digital platforms, signifies a meeting of two of the nation's most popular musical groups. The release follows Orquesta Candela's recent success with 'Sin Testigos,' a duet with merengue artist Elvis Crespo. For 'Mi Orgullo,' the group opted for a project entirely within Peru, joining forces with La Bella Luz in a production that highlights the identity and evolution of national cumbia.

Víctor Jr. Yaipén, a lead vocalist for Orquesta Candela, and Mackeily Luján, known as the 'Porcelain Doll,' lend their voices to 'Mi Orgullo,' blending their distinct styles for an emotionally resonant and rhythmic performance. Óscar Custodio Jr., leader of La Bella Luz, explained that the collaboration emerged organically due to the close relationship between the two ensembles. He noted their shared origins in northern Peru, a region renowned for its musical heritage and significant contributions to cumbia.

Custodio emphasized the mutual respect among musicians, transcending artistic competition, and believes such projects strengthen the genre and expand the reach of Peruvian music both domestically and internationally. Members of Orquesta Candela, including Víctor Jr., Donald, and Billy Yaipén, expressed their delight in realizing this collaboration, referencing a long-standing friendship between the Custodio and Yaipén families that now translates into this musical venture.
