Paraguayan Tour Bus Crash in Brazil Kills Four, Including Relatives of Mayor

A tragic bus accident on Thursday, March 16th, in Maravilha, Santa Catarina, Brazil, has resulted in four fatalities. The bus, carrying dancers, mothers, and teachers from Paraguay's Bethania Academia de Danzas, was traveling from Gramado, Brazil, to Villa Rica, Paraguay. The vehicle reportedly lost control on a curve, veered off the SC-492 highway, and plunged into a ravine. Initially, three people died at the scene, with a fourth victim, a 37-year-old woman, succumbing to her injuries while hospitalized in São Miguel do Oeste. Among the deceased were Nelida del Rosario Peralta de Rojas, Blanca Chamorro Resquín, and Guadalupe Garcete Chamorro, who are relatives of the mayor of Independencia, Paraguay. The city of Independencia has declared a period of mourning. A total of 67 people were on board the bus. Emergency services responded to the scene, with injured passengers being transported to four regional hospitals, including Hospital São José de Maravilha, Hospital Regional Terezinha Gaio Basso, and Hospital de Romelândia. The Paraguayan Consulate in Brazil is reportedly coordinating with hospitals to provide information to the victims' families. The bus was registered in Villa Rica, Paraguay.
