Partygoers Draw Knives and Guns After Accidental Foot Stomp in Minas Gerais

A Folia de Reis festival in Vila das Almas, João Pinheiro, Minas Gerais, was disrupted by violence early Sunday morning, January 12th. The incident began when one man unintentionally stepped on another partygoer's foot. This seemingly minor incident rapidly escalated into a violent confrontation. One individual produced a knife, while another produced a firearm and fired a shot into the ground before fleeing the scene. The Military Police were alerted around 1:40 AM following reports of the gunshot. Upon arrival, officers interviewed witnesses who described the sequence of events leading to the altercation. The man who fired the weapon left the festival quickly, and the individual with the knife could not be identified by witnesses, reportedly being escorted away by friends. Police identified a 27-year-old male resident of João Pinheiro as the suspect responsible for the shot. Witnesses described the firearm as appearing to be a revolver, though the specific type was not confirmed. Despite efforts to locate the suspect and gather further information, no arrests had been made as of the report's last update. The case has been transferred to the Civil Police for further investigation into the authorship and circumstances of the shooting.
