Passenger Restrained by Crew on Madrid-Recife Flight, Met by Federal Police

A disruptive passenger was restrained by the flight crew during an Iberia flight from Madrid to Recife on Monday, June 6th. The incident escalated when the passenger became agitated after a woman in front of him reclined her seat, leading to shouting and physical altercations. Videos show the pilot immobilizing the man, who was later removed from the aircraft by the Federal Police upon arrival in Recife. Witnesses reported the passenger exhibited strange behavior from the outset of the flight, including shouting and touching other passengers. Despite attempts by flight attendants and the commander to de-escalate, the situation required the intervention of approximately eight male passengers to help restrain him with seatbelts. The disruptive passenger was reportedly traveling with a woman and a child, and some passengers exchanged seats to mitigate the disturbance. Following the passenger's removal, the flight commander apologized to the remaining passengers in English and Spanish for the inconvenience. Attempts to reach Iberia, the Federal Police, and Aena Brasil for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
