Piauí Faces Multiple Weather Alerts: Low Humidity and Strong Winds

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has issued three weather alerts for municipalities in Piauí, Brazil, on Tuesday, April 4th. One alert designates a "potential danger" for low humidity, affecting one city, while other advisories warn of low humidity and strong winds across various regions of the state. These conditions pose risks to public health, increase the likelihood of forest fires, and could lead to falling tree branches. The "potential danger" low humidity alert is in effect from 10:30 AM to 10:00 PM, with relative humidity expected to range between 20% and 30%. This warning covers municipalities in the Southeast, Center-North, and Southwest regions, including populous cities like Teresina, Picos, Floriano, Campo Maior, and Altos. A separate "potential danger" wind alert is active throughout Tuesday until 11:59 PM, forecasting winds between 40 km/h and 60 km/h, with a low risk of tree branches falling. This advisory applies to cities in the Southeast, Southwest, Center-North, and North regions, with notable affected cities including Piripiri, Picos, Floriano, Pedro II, and Piracuruca. In addition to these, Barreiras do Piauí is under a more severe "danger" alert for low humidity, valid from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, where relative humidity is predicted to drop between 12% and 20%, significantly elevating the risk of forest fires and health issues such as dry skin and eye, mouth, and nose discomfort. Inmet recommends increased fluid intake, avoiding physical exertion during dry periods, and limiting sun exposure. For the severe low humidity alert, additional advice includes avoiding physical activities, using moisturizers, and humidifying indoor environments. For high winds, residents are cautioned against sheltering under trees and parking vehicles near transmission towers or billboards.
